Rider’s Profile – Iskuterista Series: Bimbo Isidro

January 22, 2007

Since I started this blog last year, I’ve featured numerous personalities who ride a Vespa; but not one of them is a Filipino. It’s not that the Philippines hasn’t got any interesting Vespa riders. In fact, through the regular Vespa rides and nightouts, I have met artists, directors, writers, DJ’s, band members, National athletes, and company bigwigs who share the same joy for riding.

For this week, I’ve decided to feature Pinoy scooterists for a change. This will be my Iskuterista Series for the Rider’s Profile section of this blog. These people are known in the local scootering scene, and in one way or the other, promoted the scootering lifestyle in the country. I’m glad that these guys agreed to be featured here especially since I’ve yet to met a couple of them personally.

I’ll start with this guy. If the image below looks kinda familiar, that’s because it came from the same series of shots as the familiar head banner of a pioneering blog for local Vespa enthusiasts.

Let’s get to know the guy under the helmet…

rider: Bimbo Isidro
also known as: Vespinoy (in the country’s own Vespa forum); BoyG in Motorcycle Philippines (MCP)
ride: Vespa PX150 (Tisoy); Vespa ET8
homebase: Pasig City, Metro Manila
job: Web Developer, Site & Forum Admin/Moderator (MCP, Vespinoy)

more about the rider: Bimbo first took to the road on two wheels some seven years ago on his Piaggio Hexagon and hasn’t been off since. Since the time he began working for a Makati firm some four years ago, he brought his car just approximately four times. Apart from his day job, he acquired (with a partner) and ressurected the biggest & most active online motorcycling community in the country. He also maintains his own Vespa blog and another forum for Filipino Vespa riders.

On the saddle, he has already toured the countryside of the great island of Luzon (Vigan, Laoag, Pagudpud, Bolinao, and all the great places in the north). He’s yet to take on the southern route but admits it’s already an item in his pretty long “to do” list. As for his future Vespa plans, he says: “well if there’s an open road, my Vespa and I will be there!”

Mabuhay ang Vespinoy!

My many and personal thanks to sir BoyG for everything. I found motorcycling more enjoyable through their MCP. Acquired many friends and acquaintances in there.
